#TCMxTTH - Why Hiring Systems Matter More Than CVs: Lessons from My Consulting Journey

What if hiring failures are not about talent—but about broken systems?
This journey reveals how moving from recruiter to consultant begins with thinking beyond roles and into root causes.

In ancient India, Chanakya was not a king—yet he shaped an empire.

He mentored Chandragupta Maurya, transforming a young boy with potential but no direction into an emperor of Maurya Empire. Not by offering opportunities—but by instilling clarity, strategy, and systems thinking.

That idea stayed with me.

Because my journey, too, has been about moving from execution to enablement… from filling roles to designing hiring systems… and most importantly, from confusion to clarity.

My Beginning: Doing the Work, Not Solving the Problem

For over four years, as a solopreneur at YOUR NEXT EMPPLOYER, my work was rooted in recruitment execution.

I partnered with organizations across Life Sciences, Agriculture, IT & Non-IT, BSI, and BPO sectors—always focusing on quality over quantity.

Before this, I worked as a freelance recruiter with consultancies. I knew how to source, screen, and close roles efficiently. I delivered consistently and took pride in finding the “right candidate.”

Yet, my business growth was slow.

Looking back, the issue wasn’t effort—it was perspective

I was thinking like a recruiter… not like a consultant.

I was fulfilling requirements—not solving business problems.

August 2025: The Shift Begins

On August 30, 2025, I made a decision that changed my trajectory—I joined the Avengers Community led by mentor, Mr. Shobhit Singhal, Founder of Transformers Hub.

This was not just a Premium program. It was a structured ecosystem of Coaches • Consultants • Entrepreneurs, built around identity, systems, and positioning.

In my very first 1:1 session, he told me:

“You have to move from an employee mind-set to a consultant mind-set.”

That one insight created a deep internal shift.

I realized that I had been operating like a recruitment agency… instead of thinking like a problem-solving consultant.

Mind-set Before Skillset

What followed was not just learning—it was unlearning.

Over the next few months, I experienced layered mind-set shifts:

  • From process-driven to outcome-driven thinking

  • From service provider to authority

  • From selling information to selling transformation

  • From waiting for leads to creating organic demand

  • From consumer to creator mind-set

Another powerful shift was this:

From Isolation to Community.

Through offline meet-ups and consistent engagement, I began to:

  • Build stronger professional relationships

  • Improve my networking and communication skills

  • Embrace collaboration over competition

For the first time, I was part of a community where people:

  • Collaborated on webinars

  • Supported each other’s growth

  • Shared opportunities openly

This didn’t just grow my business—it strengthened my identity and confidence.

December 2025: My First Client as a Consultant

A defining milestone came in December 2025—I on-boarded my first client in my new identity as a consultant.

She was a professional restarting her career after a significant break.

Initially, I approached it like a recruitment assignment.

But something had changed.

Instead of focusing only on placement, I worked on:

  • Understanding her mind-set blocks

  • Rebuilding her clarity and confidence

  • Structuring her re-entry strategy

  • Refining her Resume and LinkedIn presence

I wasn’t just helping her re-start. I was mentoring her transformation.

And in that process, I experienced my own transformation.

I realized: Consulting is not about delivering outcomes alone. It is about enabling clarity, confidence, and structured action.

The Core Realization: It Was Never About CVs

As I worked with more founders and professionals, a consistent pattern emerged.

Most organizations believed:

“We are not getting the right candidates.”

But the deeper reality was:

  • Roles lacked clarity

  • Hiring processes were inconsistent

  • Evaluation methods were undefined

  • Decision-making lacked alignment

The issue was not talent. The issue was the absence of a hiring system.

That’s when my conviction became clear:

Hiring systems matter more than CVs.

Because without a system:

  • Great candidates are overlooked

  • Wrong hires are made

  • Hiring becomes reactive and chaotic

From Clarity to Creation: Building My Consulting Identity

With this understanding, Mr. Shobhit helped me identify and define my Niche:

Transforming Hiring Systems for SMEs & Startups using the CHARISMA Framework

I also built a:

5-minute CHARISMA Audit

This tool uncovers hidden gaps in hiring systems—for both employers and employees.

Today, my approach is:

  • Diagnostic

  • Structured

  • Outcome-driven

My offerings evolved into clarity:

  • A low-ticket DIY product

  • A high-ticket “Do With Me” consulting model

  • A G.O.D. package (Group, One-on-One, Digital learning)

From Learning to Leadership

As my clarity improved, so did my visibility.

Within the Avengers community, I was invited as a guest speaker in a webinar series.

This was a turning point.

Because earlier, I worked behind the scenes.

Now, I was:

  • Sharing insights

  • Speaking with confidence

  • Contributing to a larger ecosystem

This marked my shift—from execution to expression and leadership.

Reclaiming My Voice

Another full-circle moment was writing.

I recently published two articles in The Collective Mind (Feb & March 2026 editions).

The last time I had written was during my research days. Back then, writing was academic.

Today, it is experience-led and impact-driven

This reflects a deeper shift:

From consuming knowledge… to creating knowledge.

I thank Ms. Jharna Jagtiani enough, for re-igniting the writer in me.

The Power of Systems & Mentorship

One of the biggest enablers in my journey has been structured 1:1 mentorship, offered by Mr. Shobhit Singhal to his mentees—a rare and powerful approach.

I adopted a clear consulting system:

  1. Clarity Call

  2. Solution Alignment

  3. Implementation

Supported by:

  • Weekly mastermind sessions

  • Business frameworks and insights

  • Continuous strategic thinking

This didn’t just teach me what to do.

It taught me how to think like a consultant.

Becoming the Chanakya of My Domain

Today, when I reflect on my journey, I see a clear evolution:

  • From confusion → clarity

  • From execution → strategy

  • From learning → leadership

I no longer just help SME’ and start-ups hire.

I help them:

  • Think clearly

  • Build structured hiring systems

  • Make confident, aligned decisions

And in that sense, I resonate deeply with Chanakya.

Because being a Chanakya is not about power.

It is about:

  • Creating clarity where there is confusion

  • Building systems where there is chaos

  • Enabling others to succeed

Gratitude & The Road Ahead

I am deeply grateful to my mentor, Mr. Shobhit Singhal, and the entire Transformers Hub ecosystem.

This journey has transformed not just my business—but how I think, connect, and contribute.

Today, I can say with conviction:

I am no longer just a recruiter.I am a Hiring Systems Consultant.

My mission is clear—

To help businesses move from hiring confusion to hiring clarity, and build systems that don’t just fill roles…but build organizations.

Closing Thought

You don’t become a Chanakya overnight.

It begins when you stop asking:

“How do I do this?”

and start asking:

“Why is this not working—and how do I fix it at the root?”

That is the journey from confusion to consulting.

And that is where True Transformation begins.

Curator's Note:

This piece captures a powerful shift from execution to strategic consulting, highlighting how true transformation begins with mindset and systems thinking. It reinforces a critical insight—growth does not come from doing more, but from solving the right problems with clarity.
